Richard Hammarton is a Margate based composer and sound designer working across theatre and live performance, TV and film, interactive entertainment and digital platforms.

Richard began his career as an orchestrator for screen (Silent Witness, Agatha Christie's Marple, Dalziel and Pascoe and A History of Britain) before going on to compose and design for theatre. He has collaborated on more than 150 productions, both in the UK and internationally. As well as conventional theatre settings, Richard also works with multi-platform technology for interactive projects and complex audience-led experiential designs.

A classically trained cellist and former Indie rock band singer/guitarist, Richard’s versatility and experience is evidenced in the variety and breadth of his work, from classical to electronica, or soundscapes and musique concrète incorporating acoustic instrumentation, electronics and found sound.
